Didn't Sullivan also sign Zigic and Zarrate at Brum?

Re: Sam's version of events...
No one has explained how he has managed to turn it around immediately to me yet, many were claiming it would take years to "undo all the damage he was doing"?

I said over 3 years ago that with better players after a few seasons of stability and survival that the style would improve as it did at Bolton, of course every cunt on here ridiculed me and has done since.
No one knows what was and was not said and who was responsible for what but plenty are ready to make it up to justify their foolish entrenched stance that BFS "will NEVER change" and credit Sullivan instead.

Re: Sam's version of events...
Well I certainly don't think he's thrown Allardyce any hospital passes. Indeed, in the case of our leading scorer, Allardyce sent him back, only for Sullivan to resurrect the deal.

Only concern is he'll get carried away now.

Still, when all's said and done, most of what Allardyce/the owners/the supporters say is hot air, BFS gave a very short interview last week that just about summed it up 'if you're winning football matches you get praise, if you're not winning enough football matches you get stick'. Correct.

You've had the *Sam destroying the club* thing explained to you by numerous people on this thread and others. I can only assume you are being deliberately obtuse.

Incidentally, it was Sam HIMSELF (not the fans) that said in a recent interview that the change 'was down to luck'. Jacka-fuckin-nory you pal.

There is no doubt he WAS destroying the club, with his crony signings and play for a draw regardless mentality... we would've been stuck with a squad full of one dimensional Sam cronies if he had been left to his own devices much longer (chim has explained this to you quite succinctly imo - what part of it can't you get your head around?).

You either believe Sam has been instructed / ordered / leaned on (call it what you like) to run alongside the rest of the club in doing things differently, OR you believe he has had some sort of "Sam on the Road to Damascus" revelationary change in his thinking of 30 years?

I know which one of those my money is on.

Re: Sam's version of events...
The ten per cent and ninety per cent thing was from my experience of working for a blue sky thinking CEO who would throw me regular hospital passes to implement his next bright idea.

The bringing in of Sheringham seems to have come from the top as well. It's clearly a joint effort though and the owners have once again backed their manager.

If that's directed at me, Kaka, you're welcome.

For the change in transfer policy, for the WORD FOR FUCKING WORD statement about the West Ham way, and for telling Allardyce to play the diamond.

I'm grossly under-appreciated.

Having been a critic of fatty I think he does deserve some praise and we should all move on. Banging on over who said what in the summer doesn't help anyone.

Re: Sam's version of events...
Wouldn't say I disagree, comma, as that's probably too strong a word, but the 'implementation' part is weighted more heavily towards Sullivan than simply having the idea. Sakho himself has said that Sullivan was responsible for him joining the club.

So a fair amount of the credit for the 90% figure you mentionmust also go to Sullivan.

That said, I don't really see why anyone has a problem at the minute. Everyone has got what they wanted.
The fans wanted better football, and for us to stop frittering away money; that's happened.

The owners wanted the same as the fans - in part, probably to get the fans off their back - it's happened.

The manager wanted people off his back, that's happened.

Everyone should be happy.

Re: Sam's version of events...
I was being a tad ironic chim but......Plenty on here implying it's all down to Sullivan and not giving Sam much if any credit, they've even used "luck" as a reason for the turnaround.

Also where have the "He's destroyining the club, it will take years to fix" knicker wetters gone?

, 5:28 Tue Oct 21
Re: Sam's version of events...
None of us were party to the meeting at Sully's house so we can only speculate as to what was said.

However we do know that the owners wanted a better style of football [ they certainly got that message from the fans ] and it's likely that BFS explained he would need a couple of different players up front and in midfield to achieve this.

In short I think it is the owners idea and BFS's implementation.

PS. In my experience the idea is 10% of the effort and the implementation 90%.

Who's saying that then Brentford?

Re: Sam's version of events...
Yes because of course Sullivan is handling all the signings, tactics, team selections, press, training, man management and sits in the dug out on match days.

We know this because some blokes on WHO said so.

No need for a manager at all is there...............

Re: Sam's version of events...
Allardyce is not earning three million pounds a year. When that amount was mentioned it included a one million pound bonus for getting us back into the Premiership a season earlier than projected.

Last years incentive was the other way around- a relegation clause just like Avram Grant's. Relegation means we can sack you and you get fuck-all no matter how long your contract is for.

If the stuff about him trying to get Morrison to change agents is true the club certainly had Allardyce by the nuts and ready to knuckle down and do as he was told.

I'm sure even the dimmest of fans can see the massive influence Sullivan had over Allardyce and the team in the summer. We should all be delighted he stuck his oar in because we're a much better team now.

Allardyce (and everyone else) can argue the semantics all you like but at the very least Sherringham and Sakho wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Sullivan and it almost certainly runs much deeper than that.

Zero

No. If he had walked voluntarily he wouldn't have got it.

And it looks like Sulli had made the decision to take the club in a different more 'West Ham' direction. He probably hoped to move Sam on ahead of this but Sam hid behind his contract.

Hence we 'appear' to have Sam overseeing (and basking in) someone else's vision for the club.
